What is Fun Family Fortnight?
Our annual Fun Family Fortnight happens in the final two weeks of our summer term, which are ‘normal’ school weeks for the children but with a difference: parents are invited to deliver sessions! The primary purpose of Fun Family Fortnight is to open our doors and provide an opportunity for our families to get involved in their children's experience at FLFS. We ask parents to run stand-alone workshops based on their skillset. True family learning!
We want to build on the relationships between parents and teachers and strengthen the bonds of our community. It is also a wonderful opportunity for the team to see the children with their families and for parents to join the children in their learning environment. The children’s schedules remain the same i.e. they still attend as normal on the days they are enrolled for but the format of the mornings differ with varying activities on offer throughout.
We work with Edventure Kids who operate Forest Days and invite parents to join in the forest fun! Two community days for both FLFS and Edventure Kids families, replace Adventure Days on the two Fridays of Fun Family Fortnight. The first Friday sees an all-day event at a scout centre in Croydon where everyone is invited to get involved in the activities on offer. The second Friday, and our last official day of the academic year, brings our community together at our annual festival which offers an opportunity for overnight camping!
